A doctor’s house call may be a thing of the past, but for Mid North Coast, a visiting dentist is the new reality.

Delivery of a purpose-built dental van has been taken in , Fitted with a full surgery, the $500,000 vehicle will be running between Woolgoolga and Campden Haven.

It will be travelling the region, providing onsite dental services to residents of 33 aged care facilities.

Providing these services in aged care is a key focus for the Oral Health Team, said manager Catherine Osborne.

"We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of information and support for the project from the Advisory Group - their expert advice is greatly appreciated,” Ms Osborne said.

While the van has been established for aged care, its function will be reviewed once the program is established and the level of demand is better understood she said.
